Frequently Asked Questions about Eyelash Extensions
What are eyelash extensions?
They are semi-permanent eyelash extensions composed of single strands of synthetic eyelashes that are virtually weightless and curved to replicate a natural eyelash. They are applied directly to the individual natural eyelashes, one at a time. Available in over 600 varieties, including various lengths, thicknesses, curvatures and colors, there are endless options for design. The result is a long-lasting and natural looking extension of your natural beauty.
How long do eyelash extensions last?
When properly applied by a Certified Lash Stylist and regularly maintained, eyelash extensions can last indefinitely. As your natural eyelashes shed, the extensions that are attached to those lashes will also shed, and new lashes begin to grow. We re-lash applications, new extensions are added to the newest lashes in order to maintain a full, natural looking set of eyelashes.
How long does the procedure take?
Depending on the number of lashes applied, a full set (approximately 60-80 lashes per eye) will take from 90 to 150 minutes to complete. Re-lashes, which are done every 2 to 4 weeks after the initial application, take approximately 60 to 90 minutes.
Can I apply mascara to eyelash extensions?
One of the primary advantages of eyelash extensions is that you won't need mascara. However, if you want to wear mascara on top of the eyelash extensions, ask your Lash Stylist about mascara specially formulated to be compatible with eyelash extensions. Never use waterproof or oil-based mascara.
Are eyelash extensions safe?
The lash products, application procedure, and adhesives are exclusively developed to the highest standards of safety, quality, and performance by a team of scientists, physicians, and expert lash stylists. Certified Lash Stylists are credentialed health and beauty professionals who have successfully completed rigorous, comprehensive, hands-on training and coursework. During this pain-free procedure, you will lay comfortably with your eyes closed throughout the lash application, which many clients describe as their "midday beauty rest".
What if I go to a Lash Stylist who is not certified by a company like Xtreme Lashes?
If you choose to go to a Lash Stylist who has not been properly trained and certified by an industry recognized training curriculum, such as that offered by Xtreme Lashes, then you will most likely not get the results you are looking for. Non-Certified Lash Stylists who like to advertise lower prices do so by using cheaply made, poor-quality synthetic lashes and non-surgical adhesive with tars and other chemicals. The low-grade products they use can lead to lash extensions that fall out prematurely, lashes that are very uncomfortable and painful to wear, severe irritation of the eyelids and areas surrounding the eyes, and the non-surgical adhesive can even lead to permanent lash or eye damage. Yes, going to a Certified Lash Stylist may seem more expensive initially, but you will wind up with longer lasting lash extensions that are safely applied using FDA approved hypoallergenic surgical adhesive and top quality synthetic lashes, plus you will have peace of mind knowing that you aren't allowing low-grade, cheaply made products to come in contact with your eyes. Take care of your eyes and lashes and you will be enjoying beautiful lash extensions for years to come!
